2017 PAE Bike MS City to Shore thermometer 9.19On the Road to $6 Million

City to Shore is only a few short days away, and we are looking forward to seeing the nearly 6,000 of you on the road, as we ride and raise funds for those living with MS. We are currently more than halfway to raising $6 million and that is due to the tremendous efforts and dedication of you! Thanks to everyone who's gone above and beyond the $300 minimum - you are helping to create a world free of MS.

In preparation for ride weekend, please read ALL INFORMATION below, review the important packet of information and reference the website.

Important Route Changes

importantPlease note significant changes have been made to the route after the Mays Landing Rest Stop, including total mileage, the location of the last rest stop and the bridge used to enter Ocean City. For the first time ever, cyclists will be entering Ocean City via the 9th Street bridge/Stainton Memorial Causeway (Rt.52).

As always, it is important that all cyclists follow route markings, practice safe and courteous cycling behavior, be patient, follow ALL police and volunteer direction, be aware of and adhere to the following:

  • Cyclists will have access to the right inbound lane and shoulder along the bridge into Ocean City. The Fishing Pier and Information Center will be open.
  • When approaching the bottom of the bridge in Ocean City, cyclists will need to slow down, be prepared to stop and look for police officer’s signal.
  • Upon entry into Ocean City cyclists will be held and released in several locations – including the base of the bridge –  to ensure safe passage from the base of the bridge to the traditional finish line at 5th & the boardwalk. Cyclists will be released when it is determined by police that it is safe to proceed.
Also, please help reduce additional vehicular traffic on the 9th Street bridge/Stainton Memorial Causeway (Rt.52) by encouraging all spectators to enter Ocean City via the Longport Bridge or 34th Street Bridge. We appreciate the support and partnership of Ocean City and all the counties and municipalities along the route to ensure the continued success of this ride.

Visit the Routes & Maps page for cue sheets, maps and additional information. Plus reference the Route & Rest Stop article below for additional information and reminders.

Start Location Information - 80 & 100 Mile Start at PATCO's Woodcrest Station, Cherry Hill

Click here for all start location details. Review the packet of information online.

RIDER NUMBER PICK UP BEGINS: 5:30 a.m.
ROLLING START & SPEECHES: 6:30 - 8:00 a.m.

  • Century cyclists are encouraged to plan your arrival time accordingly to ensure being released in one of the initial waves
  • ALL CYCLISTS MUST BE ON THE ROAD BY 8:00 a.m. Cyclists arriving late will be bused to the first rest stop after checking in. No exceptions.

Due to 6,000 cyclists starting at PATCO's Woodcrest Station Saturday morning, a staggered start is necessary. Accommodating the high number of cyclists presents many challenges, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation. We understand that waiting to start the event can be frustrating. However, cyclist safety is our top priority. We work with local law enforcement to manage the number of cyclists being released at any given time during the start period. Please follow instructions, and treat other cyclists, volunteers, Bike MS staff and the police with the utmost respect.

Staggered Start Tips:

  • Only enter the start chute via the staging area - this is the ONLY entrance to the route.
  • Use designated walk areas only - stay out of the start chute. Remember, you may be just arriving at PATCO, but your fellow Bike MS cyclists may be getting on the road.
  • Be patient – although releasing 6,000 cyclists safely takes time, we make every effort improve the release and will do our best to get you on the road as quickly and safely as possible. Your understanding and patience during this process will ensure a pleasant start for all.
