Information for volunteer groups
What kinds of groups volunteer together? | What jobs can groups do as volunteers? | How do I sign up as part of a group?
Whether you're friends and family or colleagues, we welcome all types of volunteer groups. We can accommodate volunteers of all ages and will place your group in the best opportunity based on your ages and preferences. Types of groups that have volunteered with us in the past include: Groups of volunteers assist with many different jobs before, during and after the ride. Click here to view a complete list of job descriptions. Jobs include:
- Starting line set up
Volunteers are with us early Saturday morning, wrangling 7,000 amped-up cyclists and preparing them to take off from our three start lines in Cherry Hill, Hammonton or Mays Landing, NJ.
- Rest stops
Run one of our many rest/lunch stop locations. This is a fun way for family members and friends to volunteer together, as there are plenty of different jobs that even the youngest volunteers can help with. Sponsorship of rest stops is also available; sponsor groups choose a theme and decorate their rest stop for the day! Our rest stops are located in:
- Berlin
- Egg Harbor City
- Egg Harbor Township
- Hammonton
- Mays Landing
- Mullica
- Waterford
- Bike parking in Ocean City
Help cyclists park bikes in Ocean City, so riders can relax following their finish.
Help out with bike handling, loading bikes into our support and gear (SAG) trucks. This job is particularly well-suited to youth groups or college students. And a bonus is that these high-tech bikes are very lightweight!
- 'Luggage Central' in Cherry Hill or Ocean City
Our 'Luggage Central' volunteers will load up riders' baggage at the starting line, or unpack it at the finish.
- Clean up at the Sunday finish line in Cherry Hill
Help us clean up on Sunday afternoon. Volunteers aren't needed until the afternoon -- great for high school or college students who want to sleep in!

To register your group, please download the PDF registration form (make sure to enter your group name on every form) and return it to us, or sign up online by creating or joining a volunteer team.
In order to ensure all members of your group are assigned to a job together, please either:
- Create a new volunteer team
- Join an existing team
- Email Joy McManus if you need assistance creating or joining a team
Please note that the team page allows cyclist and volunteer registrations, but cyclists who wish to also volunteer should sign up to ride and email Joy separately to register to volunteer.
