 Policy for Minors Riding Bike MS

Our priority is to provide a safe ride experience for all participants.
Note for 2010 Changes to the Policy for Minors
Beginning Bike MS 2010, children under the age of 12 will not be permitted to ride.
All minors must have a waiver signed by their parents/guardians. Click here to download the appropriate waiver.
Important Information
- To be an official participant, you must register for the Event and meet the minimum fundraising requirements.
- No trailers or carriers will be permitted in any Bike MS event in the Greater Delaware Valley area.
Children 12-17-years-old
The National MS Society has instituted policies for minors in its Bike MS events. For minors who are between the ages of 12 and 17-years-old, the below requirements apply:
- Two months prior to the Event a safety brochure for youth riders will be sent in the mail for the parent/legal guardian to review with their minor who is riding.
- During the Event weekend, the minor must be accompanied by an adult (21-years or older, parent/guardian preferred) who is not responsible for more than two minors riding in the event (2:1 ratio).
- Parent/Legal Guardian must sign a Bike MS waiver specifically for the minor and have it notarized. This waiver will be sent to registered minors at least two months before the Event.
- Parent/Legal Guardian must be available by phone during the Event weekend.
Children 10 & 11-years-old
For minors who are between the ages of 10 and 12-years-old, the below requirements apply:
- Two months prior to the Event a safety brochure for youth riders will be sent in the mail for the parent/legal guardian to review with their minor who is riding.
- During the Event weekend, the minor must be accompanied by their parent/legal guardian (1:1 ratio).
- Parent/Legal Guardian and minor must attend a NMSS sponsored, League of American Bicyclists Group Riding Skills course. Information can be found here and will be included with the safety brochure.
- Parent/Legal Guardian must sign a Bike MS waiver for the minor and have it notarized. This waiver will be sent to registered minors at least two months before the Event.
Children under 10-years-old
Children under the age of 10 will not be permitted to ride.
