Responsible CyclistBe courteous. Be responsible. Be safe!  The dangerous actions of a few can jeopardize the future of this ride for all. Bike MS provides the necessary tools to educate all City to Shore cyclists on proper riding etiquette but it’s up to YOU to become a responsible cyclist. Remember, roads are open ride weekend and we are GUESTS in the communities we ride through. We need you to spread the word to your fellow cyclists and teammates and protect the integrity of the ride.2013 ribbon.jpg

Reminders
: The route is fully supported, and personal SAG vehicles are prohibited. Bicycle tagalongs, trailers and carriers will not be permitted per the Society’s minor policy

Bring meaning to your ride: Don't forget to wear the orange ribbon included in your rider number packet during ride weekend. Even if you don't have a personal connection to MS currently, you are riding for someone by participating in City to Shore. Meet our 2014 champions.

START TIMES: Staggered Start Information

Due to the number of cyclists starting at PATCO’s Woodcrest Station Saturday morning, a staggered start has been instituted. Remember, you are starting with 7,000 other cyclists and it is important that all riders (veteran or novice) understand the courtesies involved with a ride of this size. Our goal is to get all cyclists on the road safely.  See below for information on where to go.

PRE-START: 6:30 a.m. SHARP

  • Fast-paced Cyclists (17 mph or faster)
  • Century Route sponsored by Janney, Montgomery, ScottCentury Cyclists (Cyclists riding the 100-mile route sponsored by Janney Montgomery Scott, designated with an orange century cyclist sticker or rider number)**
    ATTENTION CENTURY CYCLISTS
    - Entry to the century loop is located at mile 46.3
Century loop closes at 11 a.m. Cyclists will NOT be permitted on the century loop after this time.  If you arrive after your scheduled departure time, you will need to enter the route via the staging area and wait for the Official Start to begin on route. You will not be allowed to cut ahead. This may impact your ability to complete the Century; please plan accordingly to ensure you depart at your scheduled time.

RIDE KICK-OFF: 6:40 a.m.
The official start, featuring our presenting sponsor, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, and the top two 2013 corporate and friends & family fundraising teams: UPHS/PENN (corporate) and Jersey’s Team (friends and family).

OFFICIAL START: 6:45 - 8 a.m.
Staggered start waves of intermediate-paced (12-16 mph) and relaxed-paced cyclists (11 mph and under).

ALL CYCLISTS MUST BE ON THE ROAD BY 8 a.m.
Any cyclists arriving after 8 a.m. will be bused to the first rest stop (no exceptions).

Staggered start tips:
> Remember, it's for your safety
> Be patient
> Follow ALL instructions given by Bike MS staff and volunteers, and be courteous to them
> Pay attention to your start time - arrive on time
> Only enter the start chute via the staging area - this is the ONLY entrance to the route
> Use designated walk areas only - stay out of the start chute
> Be courteous to your fellow cyclists. Remember, you may be just arriving at PATCO, but your fellow Bike MS cyclists may be getting on the road.
